Below you will find three different groups of data visualizations. These are ways we chose to represent the data in an interactive manner which allows you to explore it in various combinations.

1. The first visualization is an interactive map of all the businesses listed in al-Safar al-Mufid (Dr. Abdou’s Travels). You can zoom in and out to get a wider or close perspective on the map. In addition, you can click on any single dot to see the information associated with a particular city. This information will include anything related to the record as it appears in Abdou's directory. Please note that each dot may have multiple records, so be sure to look at the top left corner of the box that appears when you click on a dot. You will see there a listing that states: "1 of x ".​ You can also click and hold (a four-pointed arrow appears), and drag on the map to move it within the viewing area.

2. The second visualization is also a map. However, this one shows a map listing the places of origin (when listed) for immigrants in Abdou's directory. The map zooms in on the Middle East and North Africa where almost all of the immigrants in Abdou's directory hailed from. You can navigate through this map the same as the first one. You can zoom in and out using the + or - signs, and you can click and hold your mouse over the map to move it within the pane.

3. The dashboard at the end of this page provides several ways to visualize the distribution of trade by gender, category of business, and place of origin. The instructions for using it are on the dashboard itself.

4. Please note that you can display each of the visualizations in full screen by clicking on the full screen icons that appear in the legends of each map (bottom right), and at the bottom of the dashboard.
